Employment Type: This position offers a competitive hourly wage of $30–$36 , with the starting rate based on experience, education, and qualifications. Salary: $30-$36/hr

About Us

Therapeutic Riding of Tri-Cities (TROT) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2014 by its current Executive Director. TROT is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges through equine-assisted activities. Located in the Tri-Cities area of Washington, TROT provides a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for riders of all ages and abilities.

Position Summary

The Executive Director (ED) serves as the lead Representative/Face of Therapeutic Riding of Tri-Cities in the Community and is responsible for overseeing the administration, operations, fundraising, and programs. The ED ensures the center operates in a fiscally responsible manner while maintaining the highest standards in therapeutic riding practices. The ED works closely with the Board of Directors to advance the mission and sustainability of TROT by following the board's outlined Strategic Plan.

Key Responsibilities

● Lead, manage, and oversee day-to-day operations of the organization and staff.

● Facilitate the development of the outlined strategic plans in partnership with the Board of Directors.

● Ensure the delivery of high-quality equine-assisted programs that align with CHA/PATH Intl. standards.

● Oversee fundraising efforts including donor cultivation, events, and grant writing.

● Manage budgets, financial reporting, and ensure organizational fiscal health. ● Maintain strong relationships with staff, volunteers, riders, families, donors, and the broader community.

● Represent TROT publicly and advocate for its mission.

● Ensure compliance with safety, legal, and regulatory requirements.

● Support and develop staff through mentoring, evaluations, and professional development. Qualifications

● Proven leadership experience, preferably in the nonprofit or therapeutic services sector.

● Strong understanding of nonprofit management, including fundraising, compliance and budgeting. ● Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

● Experience with equine-assisted services or therapeutic riding preferred.

● Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations, especially individuals with disabilities.

● Bachelor’s degree preferred; CHA or PATH Intl. certification is a plus.

Preferred Skills & Traits

● Experience working with families with disabilities

● Familiarity with the Tri-Cities region and local funding/environment.

● Proven capacity to foster partnerships with healthcare providers, schools, and agencies.

● Competence managing horse/animal care operations is a strong plus.
