Job Description:

The Parks Manager (Equine and Educational Farm) is responsible for overseeing the Tradewinds Park Educational Farm and Equine Stables Operation. The Educational Farm is currently undergoing a multi-million-dollar renovation including, but not limited to, upgrades to the equine amenities, and new livestock facilities. 

 

The Parks Manager (Equine and Educational Farm) manages a team of up to 18 personnel, and is responsible for directing, managing, and overseeing all activities of the educational farm and equine stables area of operation. Specific duties include the daily care of horses and livestock, monitoring animal health, coordinating veterinary and farrier care, managing animal diets, evaluating and selecting animals for the program, overseeing animal training and behavior management. This position also includes the leading and coordinating of public trail rides, and other horsemanship activities, providing public farm tours and some agriculture programs, and coordinating equine, farm and agricultural themed special events.


The park currently houses 32 equines and is home to a working farm including two pigs, two cows, and several chickens, goats and sheep. The equines are divided into five pastures. Additionally, the park boasts a trail system for equines only.
